"THE HUNT"- Directed by Johannes Schaff
Sypnosis: The Hunt' follows a day in the life of three poachers in the Bavarian alps of the 1870’s. In defiance of landowners and laws made to protect the very people who made them; an uncle and his two nephews have decided to continue to hunt illegally. But the hunters become the hunted, as the sheriff and his deputy come upon them unexpectedly during one of their adventures. In an ambush one of the boys gets killed. The other two manage to stay undiscovered, but to keep their identities hidden they have to escape with their friends body before the killers can reach it. The noose around their necks tightens more and more as the sheriff and his henchman close in on them.

Sypnosis: Berlin, summer of 2006. The first Kazakh space satellite KazSat is launched. In solidarity Jack Rogers decides to shed every ounce of unnecessary weight. Every possession he owns is subject to existential
review and disposal. Without warning, tragedy strikes. A letter from the landlord threatens Jack’s dream. Will he have to take up the Bohrmaschine of destiny or can he finally realize his fantasy?

Synopsis: In a tower block, a young boy tries to escape his older brother's sadistic games by living in
fantasy worlds and befriending a heroin junkie.

"A FURRYTALE"- Directed by Annikki Heinemann
Synopsis: A documentary which examines "The Furry" subculture by portraying the isolated life of a man who, when not as his corporate day job, lives in a furry wolf suit and only interacts with his dog.

Rouge 58 is proud to present the exhibition FANATIC: Recent Works and Fan Art by Ruvan Wijesooriya. Contrasting his past ephemeral exhibitions where the work is taken away and the audience is engaged as participants, “FANATIC” reflects on Ruvan’s work with artists, personalities, musicians, bands, models and more. Iggy Pop, Vivienne Westwood, Mark Ronson, James Murphy, Ellen Page, Aziz Ansari, Anne V, Anouck Lepere, and Anna Wintour are some of the people celebrated in the photographs. Collaborations with various musicians and illustrators will also be on display.

The printing formats vary to include high-end framed gallery prints, D.I.Y. posters, hand-screened t-shirts, custom publications and 8x12” photographic C-Prints sold with accompanying 55x34” prints made for the collector to assemble at home, much like furniture Ikea.

Rouge58 presents INFINITY LANDING, a site-specific installation consisting of new works in sculpture, projection and light manipulation by New York-based artist Dev Harlan. The exhibition is the first solo show by artist Dev Harlan and is intended to be viewed in a "leisurely" fashion, whilst presenting optically challenging work at a larger than life scale.

The centerpiece, TRIBAR I, is derived from the well known Penrose triangle illusion, and is realized as a three- dimensional illuminated sculpture. Like planets, the sculptures and viewer must come into alignment, at which point ecstatic infinite recursion takes hold. The pyramidal piece Rupture, is geometrically complimentary, and appears as though forever caught in a state of expansion, while luminous color wells up from its insides.

The exhibition will be on view from March 3rd through March 17th, with an opening reception and party on Saturday, March 5th from 6pm-11pm during Armory Arts Week.

Dev Harlan is a multidisciplinary artist whose hybrid practice combines the physical and the virtual with the use of sculpture, light and projection. As a self educated artist, designer and CG director, Devan’s uniquely identifiable aesthetic language and reductionist approach place his work at the forefront of a new mode of media arts practice. Harlan’s works have recently been shown at SCOPE NY Cinema Series, Optronica Festival, One Dot Zero Festival, Whitebox Gallery, Christopher Henry Gallery, Scope Miami Art Fair and the Vimeo Festival’s Vimeo World. Harlan is a native Californian and currently lives and works in New York. Suffolk Deluxe Electronic Bicycle, a work in collaboration with crochet artist Olek is currently on view at New York Studio Gallery, New York.

Rouge 58 was proud to host Exhibit B, Kareem Black’s newest series of photographs featuring legs and shoes. Inspired by Guy Bourdin, his most favored photographer, Kareem collaborated with acclaimed stylist Harold Melvin to creatively direct seven images reminiscent of one of the greatest advertising photographers of our time. 

Exclusively shot for Rouge 58 to coincide with New York Fashion Week, this is Kareem’s first exhibit geared directly towards his passion for an influential icon very apparent in much of Kareem’s personal work at kareemblack.com/life .

Noel Spirandelli was the first featured Artist at ROUGE 58. For the Grand opening of ROUGE 58 Noel Spirandelli presented 7 Images to show the spectrum of his style including three black and white portrait portraits of individuals who were aged 100 years or older living in Harlem; One was a well known DJ who used to play in Harlem who was one of the most influential artists of his time. Another was a dancing instructor who still had such elegance and grace.
